The usual process is to have a Homebuyers/RICS survey done, a RICS professional conducts an in-depth visual inspection of the property and provides you with a written report & it provides an expert account of the property’s condition and highlights any problems in a clear and easy-to-understand way.

Depending on the RICS Surveyor’s findings they would then request further inspections by specialist contractors i.e. PCA Damp & Timber Specialist / Cavity Wall-tie Specialist / Structural Engineer, this is because they are not specialists in these areas of work.

We are happy to provide you with an estimate at no charge but we will need to know what to quote for (specification, materials to be used etc.).

If you don’t have any of these then we would need to carry out a survey conducted by our specialist PCA approved surveyor to determine where the problems are, what will solve the issue & then provide a specification that we can give you a solid quote (please feel free to call / email us for detail of this service).

The survey fee depends on what you need us to look at & report upon (multiple issues or a specific problem) & areas that need inspecting (e.g. ground floor, whole house etc.).  Again, please call or email us to discuss your needs.

A damp survey is a professional inspection of a property using specialist equipment aimed at identifying and assessing issues related to dampness. It typically involves, checking for signs & patterns of damp.

Assessing moisture levels in timber & wall plaster and potential sources of rising damp, damp penetration, leaks or condensation.

This assessment is crucial for maintaining the structural integrity of a property & preventing further future damage.

  • A PCA approved & detailed report including photos which will give you a full ‘plain English’ understanding of where the issues are & what to do about it.
  • Provide a specification that you can take to other contractors for alternative quotation.
  • Quotation for Atlas to carry out works which you may use for negation purposes.
  • A follow-up call from our surveyor once survey has been carried out to discuss details.

No. Our surveys are non-disruptive, all our damp inspections are carried out using specialist equipment (e.g. hygrometers – thermal cameras – conductivity meters). Further disruptive investigation is also offered if we deem it is required (rare on residential property) but would need permissions off the home owner as it can be disruptive to décor or floor coverings.  Please contact us for further clarification.

Yes of course and we simply ask that access is made available to us by either a trap that is already cut or flooring/floorboards lifted prior to inspection.

If no access is available which is often the case if you are purchasing a property; vendors sometimes don’t like the thought of lifting floor coverings as there is the possibility that they do not go back down properly.

There are other methods to use e.g. moisture test, heel test, endoscope camera inspection but none of this we would know until we arrive at the property.

Your survey report will be emailed to you within 2-3 working days after the survey has been conducted.
